System Thermal Architect

Job description
The System Thermal Architect specifies and delivers high level mechatronic system solutions for the new professional products and enables the optimal thermal functionality and cost effective engineering of these systems. The System Thermal Architect reports to the Group lead Physics & Manufacturing Technology. The main tasks are related to the Development process in VDL-ETG following the PGP (Product Generation Process):
- Feasibility phase: Study the Customer Requirement Specifications (CRS) and investigate the feasibility of thermal concepts.
- Definition Phase: come up with Description of System Design Requirements and Specifications (SDS).
- System Design Phase: generation of system design concepts.
- Come up with well-considered choices, validated against system requirements. Review designs (eg via FMEA) with internal and external customers.
- Perform detailed thermal analysis and define measurement setup for function approval. Monitor that projects stay within agreed specifications. Make use of your creativity and helicopter view to find solutions in case of conflicts.
- System Verification: Verification of design / the chosen concept on the requirements.
Other tasks:
- Contribute to system roadmaps on thermal aspects.
- Participate in further development of needed critical Flow & Temperature control competences
Your profile
- Master in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Flow and Temperature control.
- You have 0 -3 years of experience in creating new equipment concepts (or large complex modules).
- Preferably you have experience with mechanical design principles, dynamic behavior, material properties, contamination control, cleanroom environment, vacuum design rules.
- Knowledge of (FEM) calculations in the area of thermal management, flow control on liquids and gasses.
- Experience with Matlab, Simulink or related development tools.
- Experience with lithography is a plus.
- Abstract thinking, out-of-the box thinking, analytical attitude and a helicopter view.
- Communication. Effective communication with all levels and disciplines. Clear and structured way of reporting.
- Networking. Build and maintain networks throughout the organization and also outside the organization.
- Able to challenge others, to come up with even better ideas.
