System Architect
The role
As a System Architect at VDL ETG T&D Eindhoven, you are responsible for defining, owning and safeguarding the overall system architecture of complex mechatronic systems and production equipment. You translate customer and business requirements into robust, scalable and manufacturable system solutions, while ensuring technical coherence throughout the entire product lifecycle.
You act as the technical authority at system level and work closely with customers, project managers and multidisciplinary engineering teams, including mechanical, electrical, software, physics, manufacturing and controls engineering. From your system overview, you provide architectural direction, make well‑reasoned decisions and lay a solid technical foundation for successful projects.
Your Strengths
- A Master’s degree or equivalent in Systems & Control, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics or a related technical discipline
- At least 10 years of relevant professional experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a System Architect role within complex technical systems, preferably in high‑tech machinery or industrial automation
- Proven experience in delivering robust, scalable and manufacturable systems aligned with customer and business requirements
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary and concurrent system development
- Experience in technical leadership, coaching and guiding engineers while stimulating ownership and self‑steering teams
- Ability to operate effectively within a complex stakeholder environment
- Excellent command of the English language, both spoken and written; basic knowledge of Dutch is a plus
