Group lead software development

VDL ETG’s mission is to develop and manufacture high-tech modules and systems for our customers in high-end equipment. ETG Technology & Development (T&D) is responsible for development of these mechatronic modules and systems, for production for one of the ETG factories. Embedded software is an increasing importance for the systems that we develop. T&D plans to move SDEV into the latest and greatest technologies for software development and engineering fully connected to its system development process.  As a Group Lead Software Development, you will:

• Lead and inspire a diverse software development team, ranging from young professionals to senior experts, competence owners, and software architects.
• Drive customer and competence projects, working closely with other T&D competence groups.
• Explain and justify technological choices to stakeholders and actively engage customers in software engineering processes.
• Be responsible for reviewing and releasing software deliverables and for assigning engineers to projects.
• Collaborate daily with project managers, group leads and engineers in disciplines such as mechatronics, mechanics, electronics and system engineering.
• Maintain strong relationships with international customers (Semicon, Solar, Medical) and ensure quality, effective ways of working and adoption of new technologies.
• Grow the software competency and oversee recruitment for your group.

You are a people-oriented technical leader who aims to help a team excel in delivering high‑quality software solutions. You actively explore new technologies and apply them where they add value. You bring:

• A Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or Electronics Engineering.
• 5–10 years of leadership experience in a high‑end, multidisciplinary development environment.
• A proactive, analytical and creative mindset with a strong “can‑do” attitude.
• Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch.
• Experience with requirements management, Agile development, and reliability engineering.
