Within the VDL Bus & Coach group the VDL ETS System Competence Centre is responsible for the system and software development. For this group we are looking for a Lead Test Automation Engineer to work on SW test framework and tests.

The Job:

With the electrification of drive trains and IoT developments the number of controllers and system complexity of vehicles like busses and trucks grows exponentially. With that the amount of software increases proportionally.

Within the VDL Bus & Coach group the VDL ETS System Competence Centre is responsible for the system and software development. For this group we are looking for a Lead Test Automation Engineer to work on SW test framework and tests.

The System Competence Centre selects the controllers and defines the architecture how to interface and integrate these in a vehicle. Next to that it develops the software application layer running on these controllers. These controllers can be PLC systems programmed with CoDeSys/LogiCad or other controllers are programmed in Matlab/Simulink development environments or C/C++. All this code needs to be tested nightly for regression.

Next to that configuration management activities like management of SW toolchains(JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins) and version control tooling (GIT, BitBucket) are part of your job responsibilities.

You will lead a team of 2 young and enthusiastic engineers by guiding and coaching and mentoring them on technical level, setting the right priorities and planning.

The department is involved from an early concept phase up to commissioning at customer side, following a V-model and ‘Agile’ hybrid way of working.

Your profile:

  • You have a BSc or MSc in Electronics, Embedded systems or equivalent
  • You have experience in several programming languages like C/C++, CoDeSys, Matlab, Python and Groovy
  • You have experience with Verification and Validation standards like ISTQB
  • Preferably you have experience with industry standard automotive test and analysis tools like Vector CANoe and Vector CANalyser.
  • You have experience with Jenkins, Jira, Confluence, Git and equivalent tools.
  • Affinity and experience with automotive, CAN/LIN bus, diagnosis protocols (UDS, ODX) is a plus
  • You are more system minded than a specialist
  • You are pro-active and assertive
  • You can work independently as well as in a team
  • You are passionate about e-mobility and technology in general
